Meet Lydia Schultz

Associate Licensed Professional Counselor, Mental Health Service Provider

Lydia is an associate counselor who is pursuing licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Mental Health Service Provider. She is committed to providing an open, accepting, and warm space for clients from all walks of life. Her goal is to help clients explore their past and current experiences and how they shape the ideal person they desire to be.

Lydia works with children and adolescents ages 7-18, as well as couples and families navigating a variety of family dynamics or life transitions. She has an extensive background working with neurodivergent individuals and especially provides support for children and adolescents who are navigating shifts in their families or adjusting to life or school transitions. Lydia often employs play-based therapy to achieve some of these goals. She is continuing to build her knowledge surrounding systems and attachment styles related to how children and adolescents experience the world around them.

In addition to her work with younger clients, Lydia offers couples therapy, pulling from her training in Level 1 and Level 2 Gottman Method Couples Therapy, a leading model in couples therapy. Her training includes familiarity in trauma-informed care, systems based approaches, attachment based concepts, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Existential Therapy.

Lydia views counseling as a holistic process, where she supports clients in their journey to build knowledge and understanding, engage in self-advocacy, and achieve emotional regulation. Through talk and experiential therapies with adults and children, she aims to create a collaborative, client-led process where her clients feel safe, welcomed, and heard. By request, she incorporates experiential elements into sessions which help foster new skills, challenge life’s obstacles, and strengthen the connections in relationships.

Outside of her clinical work, Lydia enjoys reading books, watching movies, traveling, and spending time outdoors. Lydia is originally from the greater Chattanooga area. After being away from the area for six years, she’s excited to be back home and providing support to her community.

As an Associate Licensed Professional Counselor, Lydia is under the direct supervision of Erin Rayburn, AAMFT Approved Supervisor (TN); LMFT & LPC-MHSP (TN & GA)
